Frequently asked questions
What can I expect from a session?
An informal consultation to get acquainted and explore how I can support you best
Meet monthly/bimonthly for 45-60 minutes, virtually or in person
Space for reflection and quiet, prayer, meditation, contemplation, creative expression, poetry, or any practices that invite deep connection for you or your group
Spiritual direction is not rooted in binary questions or answers, and it is most concerned with listening to “the river under the river” of our own longings. We will listen and be led. In short: we’ll see what happens!
We seek to joyfully resist transactional living, and all fees are flexible and on a sliding scale.
Is spiritual direction specific to religion?
Although spiritual direction was born of Catholic, Jesuit, and other Christian denominations this practice is not confined to religious denominations or sects. Belief in God is not a requirement to deep listening, nor is it an end goal. We might talk about theology and belief, but our intention will be more about curiosity than seeking the “right” answers. Wherever you are we can be there together.
Is spiritual direction just therapy?
Individual sessions bring up a lot of feelings and the process might have a therapeutic effect but the intentions and focus are different than a formal treatment process. As both a trained director and a licensed clinician I am happy to refer you to appropriate mental health supports if the need arises during our work of listening and discernment together.
