What is Spiritual Direction?

Spiritual direction is an accompaniment process between the director and directee focused on deep listening and attunement to feelings, thoughts, fears, and hopes. The focus is on the directee’s unique understanding of self and the role of spirituality in their life, and making meaning of what creates a life worth living.

Sometimes this looks like exploring theology, the impact of religious trauma, or learning to welcome the doubts that accompany a life of faith. Often, spiritual direction examines the faith traditions that have formed us, and working to find new rituals or practices that feel more aligned with who we are now.

Spiritual direction is an ancient practice with roots in Christian traditions, but is an open invitation for anyone who seeks greater intimacy with their sense of the divine and how to live out or expand the implications of that relationship.
